In Switzerland, the new Coordinate Reference System and its Coordinate Reference Frame LV95 (National Control Network 1995) has to be officially established in Switzerland in the next several years:
  • until 2016, for cadastral data, LV95 has to be established over all of Switzerland
  • until 2020, all other official data, LV95 has to be established over all of Switzerland
For the transformation and regionally elimination of the systematic and irregulary deformation (up to 3 meters) of the LV03 national control network LV03 into LV95, for high accuracy data, the FINELTRA-method is used:
  • The CHENyx06-FINELTRA solution is established for cadastral data is released on 3rd may 2007 (FINELTRA level 2)
  • the first FINELTRA solution with an accuracy at dm-level was established end of the 90's (FINELTRA level 1)
For medium and small scale data (e.g. topographical maps), the FINELTRA method is not required.

The comparision of the two geodetic networks shows deformations of the CRF- LV03 (red grid) regarding to CRF-LV95 (grey grid). The differences are up to 3 meters.

The deformations are systematic, but not regular. So for defining the relationship between the to coordinate reference frames (CRF), the method of FINELTRA is used. The FINELTRA-method defines triangles within each triange an own affine transformation is used. The triangle points (TSP - Transformationsstützpunkte) are well determined geodetic control points with coordinates in both coordinate reference frames.

FINELTRA is a composed affine transformation based on a set of  non overlapping triangle definitions. Within each triangle an own affine transformation parameter set is defined.
The parameter determination is calucated by the known coordinates of the triangle points. For these points the coordinates are known in the source and the target coordinate reference frame. In these points, no residuals occur.

The FINELTRA CHENyx06 Solution for cadastral data was officially released on 3th of may 2007.

The definition of the FINELTRA- triangulation CHENyx06 was elaborated during several years in collaboration of the national and the cantonal surveying authorities.
A large amount of triangles was defined unter analysing the local deformation situation. The used triangulation definition points (TSP) are at least national and cantonal geodetic control points (LFP1 and LFP2) and also reliable controllpoint from local geodetic networks and some virtuall definition points. The mean size of triangles is about 6.5 km^2.
For the controlling of the accuracy about 45'000 checking points (local controll point and property border points). The mean accuracy over all of Switzerland is about 2 cm (± 1.1 cm).
With the FINELTRA CHENyx06, the regional deformations of the geodetic network can be eliminated, the local deformations have to be eliminated by cadastral renewal projects.
